Hiking

CRISTO PENSANTE

from Passo Rolle

Cristo Pensante

The trekking to the Thinking Christ can satisfy a need for spirituality, or just be a nice hike with views of the Pale di San Martino, or both. For sure, over time this has become a very popular destination.

Of the two routes proposed by trekking-etc, this is the shorter and less strenuous, although more limited, but still allows you to enjoy great views and amazing sceneries. The ability to reach the Baita Segantini by shuttle reduces even more the effort required to the wayfarer.

Access

Near Passo Rolle, a few hundred meters in the direction of San Martino di Castrozza, there is a large parking lot.

Route

Take the path, clearly indicated, that goes up, comfortable and very little steep:

Without much effort you will reach Rifugio Capanna Cervino. The view on Castellazzo is already clear:

After a couple of bends, at a fork, it is possible to proceed in the direction of the Baita Segantini, by going straight, or take the more direct variant, by turning left.

In the first case, in a short time you will reach the hut:

Baita Segantini

Continuing and following the directions, the trail goes round the grassy hill and then slightly down:

Once near the Castellazzo, the trail begins to climb in comfortable curves:

In about half an hour from there, you will reach the Cristo Pensante:

A plate invites the visitor to think:

Possibly, in a few minutes, you can also reach the actual summit of the Castellazzo.

All around, the landscape is very wide and impressive: the Pale di San Martino, Passo Rolle and Lagorai, the massif of Cima Bocche, the Marmolada Group. Some ruins at the top and some other artifacts not far to the west, witness the past war activity of man in this place.

Return

Same trail, possibly via the more direct variant.
